S o long, sweet Meg.

It saddens me to learn that our good friend, Michelle Goodrich, (Meg to the online community) passed away this weekend. I learned a lot from her web expertise and unbounded patience. Many of us bloggers did.

She ran the Mandarin Design site and lived in West Sacramento, CA. She was a sweet gentle spirit that I will miss deeply.

I'll continue to honor her with the CSS/HTML she taught me. And how to make boxes, padding, shadows, borders. How to make a picture opaque, add letters to the opacity, make the letter "S" in the beginning of this post, aka Drop Caps, and numerous other tweaks.

She just always took the time. Rest peacefully, dear one.

I was saddened and touched. I know some people who know her at her job. The workplace provided grief counseling on Friday morning. For a few reasons,it's hard to create a memorial at work, but maybe the Mandarin Design tips and code could continue.

Do any bloggers have an interest in keeping MEG's site up? Anyone interested to talk at "blogher" (blogher.org) in San Jose at the end of this month?

Thanks for stopping by, Barbara. What I learned from Meg is used daily and is probably the best way to honor her. Just basics, really.

I don't have any interest whatsoever in keeping up her site. It's not the same without her there. I could find web design anyplace but kept going to Mandarin Design because quite simply I adored Michelle. She was our dear friend, our voice of reason, and rallied many global bloggers on the foundation of learning, but kept us there with her love, her humor and her generosity.

Good to know, susan, because I don't know your actual connection. Someone had the impression that others worked on the site(s) with MEG, and I said I thought that wasn't the case. As much as I saw over several years, Mandarin Design seemed like a single voice, so I thought not.

Today when I was having lunch at the Natural Food Coop, the man who was her manager came by. The person I was having lunch with, knew him and Michelle, so introduced me. He talked quite a while about about his recent experiences with the service and family. I hope things work out well for all who felt this loss.

ABOUT EBC

It wasn't long after 9/11, September 11, 2001, that I began this website. I felt compelled to connect with other people around the globe. I had recently heard about "weblogs" or "blogs" and I dove right into Blogger.com. I searched for others to connect with online and I found Ageless. It led to meeting many great friends to discuss events of the day. From then on it snowballed. Most importantly we offered one another support and friendship across the globe; finding that we were just a few keystrokes away.
