Impending Films

Alice in Wonderland Adaptation - Johnny Depp to play the Mad Hatter. Tim Burton has once again chosen to cast Johnny Depp in one of his films, this time as the Mad Hatter in a new adaptation of "Alice in Wonderland". link

The Hippie Hippie Shake - Misadventures in London at the end of the 1960s from a Richard Neville book that is starring Sienna Miller.

Wax On, Wax Off. Sienna's nude body wasn't exactly "historically acurate", so she's got a computer-generated enhancement to reflect the look of the sixties. (Look at me being all delicate and shite.) Release date is this summer.

Dali & I: The Surreal Story (2009) with Al Pacino as Salvador Dali...? I'm sure he'll sell it like the big star that he is, but right now it's a little hard to imagine.

and all the Johnny Depp ones below... especially Shantaram. Synopsis: "A heroin addict incarcerated for a robbery escapes prison and reinvents himself as a doctor in the slums." He seems to always get first pick at the good movies or now with his production company, Infinitum Nihil.

FILM --- RELEASE DATE --- CHARACTER

* The Rum Diary (2009) (in production) .... Paul Kemp

Next For Johnny Depp

Warner Bros. is teaming with Depp's Infinitum-Nihil and Graham King's GK Films to develop a feature based on the '60s daytime supernatural sudser "Dark Shadows."

Depp, who is coming off "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" and who just wrapped the Tim Burton-directed "Sweeney Todd," is next expected to star in "Shantaram," a Mira Nair directed adaptation of the Gregory David Roberts novel that Depp, King and Plan B are producing for Warner Bros. Depp, King and WB are also mobilizing to make a film about the life of Alexander Litvinenko, with Depp poised to play the former KGB agent, who was fatally poisoned.

Dark Shadows could be fun. And the Litvinenko story must be told; it may as well be Depp.

Sunday Driving

A mixed-race, bisexual outsider who was socialized in the club culture of her small English town, Helen Walsh fled to Barcelona, Spain, at 16, where she worked fixing up prostitutes and johns before moving to Liverpool, cleaning up her act and sitting down to write a novel. Considered one of the raciest tales of British sex-and-drug culture since Irvine Welsh's "Trainspotting," "Brass" has earned Walsh a lot of hype and, because it's so well written, possible staying power as well. Worth looking into. more »

The Naoto Hattori Gallery is definitely worth a visit. Hattori went to school in New York and Tokyo and as you see is a very talented artist and illustrator.

» Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Casting Story
The Johnny Depp film, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, a remake of Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory, is holding auditions this Saturday in Asheville, NC, at Dillard's at the Asheville Mall from 3-7. The casting director is looking first in Western North Carolina before she searches elsewhere. The film will be directed by Tim Burton and begins filming in London this summer. Casting is for a 13 year old boy whose name is Mike Teevee, and a 10-12 year old girl, named Violet Beauregard; a southern girl who chews a lot of gum. » Another word to add to my Cringe-Worthy list: "Old School" Unless you're referring to that aging institution where you spent much of your youth. When you hear two middle management white men say "That's old school", when referring to an old way of doing stuff on the job, it's way past time to get out the message for them to stop before somebody gets hurt.

My family built our house bordering on the 14th green of a golf course in Tennessee when I was young. Our father was a big golf nut. I learned to play golf at a young age, I followed 'Arnie's Army' on a course once and I still enjoy it occasionally. So I've been rooting for Annika Sorenstam as she makes PGA history.

Tim Burton in Talks to Direct 'Chocolate Factory'. Don't you just love his work? Chocolate Factory was made into the 1971 Willy Wonka movie. But it'll be great fun to see Burton put his spin on it.

Still tweaking a new template I did for Robin. Frames suck.

ABOUT EBC

It wasn't long after 9/11, September 11, 2001, that I began this website. I felt compelled to connect with other people around the globe. I had recently heard about "weblogs" or "blogs" and I dove right into Blogger.com. I searched for others to connect with online and I found Ageless. It led to meeting many great friends to discuss events of the day. From then on it snowballed. Most importantly we offered one another support and friendship across the globe; finding that we were just a few keystrokes away.
