According to Peter Hammarstedt, the skipper of the Bob Barker, one of the ships that will be part of Sea Shepherd’s 10th Antarctic campaign, the Japanese whalers are already “desperate” because they are serving a dying industry. He claims that it is because of their efforts on the high seas that their whaling campaign has been unsuccessful the past years and that they are already bankrupt. They say that they have restricted Japan to just nine percent of its regular catch last season and that they were able to save 932 whales. “Last year was the most aggressive that the Japanese whale poachers have ever been towards us,” he says. He also considers the Japanese whalers, who continue hunting whales for what they claim are “scientific reasons”, as criminals so “we expect that we will treat them like the criminals that they are.”
Their efforts should be zoomed into every home each killing season as they risk their lives to save whales, seals, dolphins, for slaughter. These Sea Shepherds are relentless and their selfless, heroic work deserves to be on everyone's lips.
It's something despicable every day.
Earth travelers are soon ready to bolt out into the streets and demand change. ALL the bullshit's got to go. May it not come to the bloody violence that our honorable brothers and sisters endured in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and more, but what if it did? Do we have that kind of resolve for change?
It's not only the slaughter of our innocent ocean mammals for fast cash. It's the slashing of programs that help the middle class and working poor. And the ballsiest mindfuck of them all-- when the US gave five BILLION $ bailout to the banks a few years back. No problem, mates, you don't have to pay us back, even though you've record profits now. FUCK YOU! Is that how you were treated at your friendly neighborhood bank the last time you needed a loan?
There are so many crusaders for good who must be heard. And you think that just one person can't do much but we can! Keep informing friends of the rage against the perpetual injustice machine. Shame those who are destroying our earth right out of their nefarious businesses.
Please let's be the voices for these decent people who risk their lives every day and continue to fight for all the good guys. At the very least thank them. Share their stories. Donate. Write, tweet, or Facebook about them. That is all it took for Arab Spring and I'm not sure we need to go that far but you can see from that what a fed up nation is capable of when they're "mad as hell and they're not going to take it anymore".
