Weblog Problems DuJour:
1) Tried to border a pic with info on Meg's site (mandarin design), and it posted fine in editing; but wouldn't publish correctly.
2) Comments are completely down this morning. {back up after 12:00}
3) My site will NOT take a ping, after 6 attempts within 2 hours. {finally got a ping after 11:30}

Good Morning. I still wish for peace.....

"Why are you here in this country? Are you trying to take over? Are you going to take our country forever? Are the Israelis coming next? Are you here to steal our oil? When are you going to get out?" This is the other side of the news we've been getting about Iraquis dancing in the streets with glee since seeing American soldiers. Pardon me for being more than a little cynical, but I've been watching my television news do this for many decades now. I just want the truth.

Companies secretly bid to rebuild Iraq. The USAID contract is filled with details about plans to construct Iraqi schools, airports, roads, bridges, hospitals, power plants and more. Things like this are why I'm a little cynical.

The TV War Coverage Drinking Game I mentioned last week, suggests taking a drink when certain popular phrases are mentioned. Like, "WMD", "shock and awe", "regime change", "9-11", "embedded". I added "capitulation" to their list. Today I might add:" pockets of resistance". No discussion about popular phrases can be complete without my favorite non-phrase, "that said", and "that being said", "having said that". Does anyone know how stupid that sounds? If you have ever uttered one of those phrases, Stop It. Now. It adds nothing to the conversation and makes you look like the lemming that you are. {long-time blogging buddies will recognize this rant.}

Most bloggers have rings, cliques, groups we belong to, as do I. So I thought if I could remember, I'd try to spotlight one of them occasionally. Today I'll mention the Ageless Project. When I first visited their site over a year ago, I looked up other weblogs to see if there were people as old as me were others who had birthdays close to mine. And there were. So I stopped by a few of them and introduced myself. I still talk to these folks almost daily and we have a great online friendship.

Quote For Today
"I know why families were created with all their imperfections. They humanize you. They are made to make you forget yourself occasionally, so that the beautiful balance of life is not destroyed."

Earth is full. Go home.

ABOUT EBC

It wasn't long after 9/11, September 11, 2001, that I began this website. I felt compelled to connect with other people around the globe. I had recently heard about "weblogs" or "blogs" and I dove right into Blogger.com. I searched for others to connect with online and I found Ageless. It led to meeting many great friends to discuss events of the day. From then on it snowballed. Most importantly we offered one another support and friendship across the globe; finding that we were just a few keystrokes away.
