Good Sunday morning...
The Train Whistle
What do you think of when you hear a train whistle? Anything? Maybe not. But it's significant to me because it takes me back to a much simpler life and time in the early 1960's, as a child at my grandmother 's house. She had a beautiful old stately 2-story house with wrap around porches on the first and second levels, a small, neatly trimmed lawn with a sidewalk out front. She lived right in town, on Main Street. Down the hill was a little store called the "Shamrock". Occasionally, I'd walk the block and a half to the Shamrock. Walking under the mimosa trees, past the First Presbyterian Church, careful not to step on any cracks in the broken sidewalk. The corner store had a crooked neon shamrock sign and ads for pipe tobacco and Pabst Blue Ribbon beer in the window. Inside was a lunch counter, that served fountain cokes and BLT's to the lunch crowd and hot fudge sundaes and root beer floats for dessert.

One long blast on a train whistle. And I'm back on Main Street, walking to the Shamrock.

ABOUT EBC

It wasn't long after 9/11, September 11, 2001, that I began this website. I felt compelled to connect with other people around the globe. I had recently heard about "weblogs" or "blogs" and I dove right into Blogger.com. I searched for others to connect with online and I found Ageless. It led to meeting many great friends to discuss events of the day. From then on it snowballed. Most importantly we offered one another support and friendship across the globe; finding that we were just a few keystrokes away.
