Bakersville Fire

A fire broke out about 60 miles from here in the jail in Bakersville, NC, last night. Eight prisoners died in the blaze, and many others are hospitalized. Tonight the news said two were there on parole violation, one for DUI, and similar offenses. It was noted that the old, broken down jail had failed inspection since 1997. One fat cat that was interviewed opines, "Well, you gotta remember, they WERE prisoners". I felt the wind off of the scurry of barristers hustling to Bakersville.
