The New York Times' David Barstow won a richly deserved Pulitzer Prize yesterday for two articles that, despite being featured as major news stories on the front page of The Paper of Record, were completely suppressed by virtually every network and cable news show, which to this day have never informed their viewers about what Bartow uncovered. Here is how the Pulitzer Committee described Barstow's exposés:

Awarded to David Barstow of The New York Times for his tenacious reporting that revealed how some retired generals, working as radio and television analysts, had been co-opted by the Pentagon to make its case for the war in Iraq, and how many of them also had undisclosed ties to companies that benefited from policies they defended.

By whom were these "ties to companies" undisclosed and for whom did these deeply conflicted retired generals pose as "analysts"? ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN and Fox -- the very companies that have simply suppressed the story from their viewers.

I'm mad as hell at strawberries and I'm not going to take it anymore.

Just because I buy my strawberries off the back of a truck and the guy, smiling, tells me "these came all the way from South Carolina" doesn't mean they're going to taste like strawberries should taste.

Just because I buy strawberries when they're a beautiful shade of red also doesn't mean jack.

I'm sick of being ripped off buying strawberries this year but I have to take part of the blame as a consumer because I should be more savvy and pro-active.

I should NOT be buying strawberries in February, March, April, and May.

I know they've been gassified and hydroponicked and it really pisses me off that strawberry growers are allowed to deceive the consumer on such a scale each year.

I yearn for a time when a red strawberry meant that it was ripe and tasted sweet. Now they are hard and sour but you can't tell by looking at the packaging.

And question-- why are they the only fruit that's locked up like a dvd?

I really like these guys. There's some real certified rocking going on here. They're really tight. The melody's good and the song writing's good and you can see a solid Led Zeppelin and Jack White influence which works out quite well.

Lars von Trier, one of my all time favorite directors, is currently working on Antichrist, a film starring Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg. He wrote and directed it and he's expected to show it at this years Cannes Festival which is sometime in May.

In the village of filmdom Lars' films fly far above the fray. Dancer In The Dark is my favorite one of his.

And Gigola has just started in early 2009 and is taken from a steamy novel by Laure Charpentier.

The plot: George, a young woman loses herself in the nightlife of 1960s-era Paris after the suicide of her female lover, and eventually becomes a gigolo catering to women.

It stars the toxic Asia Argento and the smoldering Anne Parillaud, Marisa Berenson, and Tchéky Karyo.

Asia Argento is so enigmatic -- wow! Many of her characters remind me of a younger version of myself, I hesitate to add. I saw her again in Transvylvania a few nights ago.

Cocaine Detecting Flashlight

"Police are shining ‘magic torches’ into clubbers’ faces to check for tiny traces of cocaine – and now employers and parents are being encouraged to follow suit.

Forces across the country are buying the £40 torches which can make any microscopic particles of cocaine or amphetamine that are invisible to the naked eye appear bright green.

Officers say the UV lights work as well as ones costing ten times as much and make it easy to spot the tin­iest traces of cocaine on nasal hair.

Sgt Alan Clayton said: ‘This simple piece of equipment will have a big impact on drug use in pubs and clubs. ‘Traces of cocaine are also left on the cheeks and chin that are not visible to the naked eye and these show up bright green, too. It really is amazing.’

They will detect cocaine that is at least 87 per cent pure and 78 per cent pure amphetamine of, including some, but not all, Ecstasy pills." - Source

Nothing like it has ever happened. The President of the United States, the elected representative of the people, has just told the head of General Motors -- a company that's spent more years at #1 on the Fortune 500 list than anyone else -- "You're fired!"

I simply can't believe it. This stunning, unprecedented action has left me speechless for the past two days. I keep saying, "Did Obama really fire the chairman of General Motors? The wealthiest and most powerful corporation of the 20th century? Can he do that? Really? Well, damn! What else can he do?!"

This bold move has sent the heads of corporate America spinning and spewing pea soup. Obama has issued this edict: The government of, by, and for the people is in charge here, not big business. John McCain got it. On the floor of the Senate he asked, "What does this signal send to other corporations and financial institutions about whether the federal government will fire them as well?" Senator Bob Corker said it "should send a chill through all Americans who believe in free enterprise." The stock market plunged as the masters of the universe asked themselves, "Am I next?" And they whispered to each other, "What are we going to do about this Obama?"
